Gutters - Do I really Need Them?
A severe thunderstorm can drop 1/2 inch to an inch of rain in the blink of an eye. And while that may not sound like much, spread that across an average-size roof and it equates to nearly 1,900-gallons of rainwater pouring off the eaves of your home. That’s a whole lot of water that can cause a whole lot of damage if your gutters aren’t up to par. DunRite Exteriors carries a full line of gutter products to protect your home and home's foundation from the catastrophic damage that can occur from old, weak, damaged or improperly installed gutter systems.
Gutter Filter - Gutter Guards
Gutter Filter is the strongest and most effective gutter protection solution on the market.
Gutter Filter Protects Against:
Leaves, Asphalt Grit, Granules, Pin Needles, Rodents, Bees, Pollen, Shingle Debris, Oak Tassels, Stagnant Water and Nests.
Why Gutter Filter:
Gutter Filter is pioneering the way for gutter guards, Gutter Filter has been tested and is recognized to carry the highest ratings and results that outperform the competition.
Clogged gutters can fill with leaves, pine needles, oak tassels, asphalt, and other shingle debris, as well as providing nesting areas that harbor infestation. Stagnant water trapped in the gutter debris can quickly become a breeding area for mosquitoes. Dried gutter debris can also create a potential hazard to you and your home, particularly pine needles.
In winter conditions, clogged gutters cause dangerous icicles and water damming, forcing melting water to back under shingles and leak into the interior. Water in your foundation can freeze, crack and buckle.
Gutter Filter is stainless steel micro mesh that is not too small to restrict the water flow but is not too large to allow debris into the gutter.

Replacing your gutters is best done when re-roofing your home. This allows for proper details to be installed at your eave/drip-edge flashing/fascia
Ice and Water membrane installed with a new roof should be lapped over your fascia and behind your gutters. This is recommended by roofing manufacturers because it seals off the transition from your fascia to your roof sheathing and makes it impossible for ice to back-up into your eaves.
When you don’t replace your gutters during re-roofing, your contractor has two options regarding the proper installation of ice/water membrane at your eave/fascia; A) terminate the ice/water membrane at the edge of the roof sheathing which fails to seal the fascia/sheathing transition from ice back-up. Or B) Taking your existing gutters down or loose, properly installing ice/water membrane onto your fascia, then re-installing your old gutters. Typically, no guarantee is made by the contractor regarding correct re-installation of your gutters in this process.
Neither of these options are ideal. The best option is to have new gutters installed with your new roof. K-Guard is a Complete Leaf Free Gutter System and it replaces your existing Gutter System. K Guard is not a screen, cover, or add-on device installed over your existing Gutters. Installing K Guard Gutters with your new roof ensures that your roof will be properly protected from ice back-up and that your Gutter System will be properly aligned and flashed into your roof edge. This is the Optimum detail for your home.
